An author who wishes to self-publish or who wishes to ready his work for an agent or editor search may choose a combination of substantive and copy editing. This is the type of editing a manuscript typically undergoes during the publication process, but usually in stages.
Rather than taking clients through two costly separate edits, I will combine the two edits, providing an in-depth substantive report and line-by-line corrections and suggestions.
The fee for the combined copy and substantive edit is $5 per page (using the industry standard of 250 words per page).

Writers wishing this type of edit will be asked to transmit their manuscript electronically using Microsoft Word. The substantive edit report will be sent as a separate document, but the copy edits will be made with “Track Changes.”
